Wow, I'm amazed at the response I got from the first part. I didn't plan on writing this Wilblk story for awhile yet, but I finally got tired of Scott's whining. So, here's part 2.

--------------

"Contact General Musee. Find out what happened and if they need help." Wilblk said as soon as Ship exited the rift.
A couple of minutes passed which Wilblk anxiously used to pore over the sensor readings. Not a ship within sight. They were still far enough away that Pazerinity's ship traffic would still be beyond the sensor's scanning range.
"All hailing frequencies are silent."
"Keep trying. Try my house, see if Weeblk answers."
"Nothing."
"Open a general broadband. Someone's got to hear us."
"Still now responses. Pazerinity is coming into sensor range now. Scanning...."
Wilblk glanced at the console. "Ship, this can't be right. Run a diagnostic on your sensors."
"Ran. Sensors are running at one hundred percent capacity. I'm sorry to say that the data is correct."
"No life signs? There are over 6 billion people living on and around my planet. Where's the station? And the dock?"
"Sensors show no artificial constructs in the planet's orbit, except for debris. My analysis is that they've been destroyed."
"Destroyed? By whom or what?"
"Unknown."
"Scan the planet near my house. Is the landing site still intact?" Since exiting the rift, Wilblk did not allow himself to think about L'ree or Weeblk. This was the time to be professional, even if he was an ordinary cargo hauler and not military.
"Landing pad appears to be structurally intact. I'm reading a lot of fire damage around the pad."
"My house?"
"I'm afraid there's not much standing. The whole planet appears to have been devastated."
With Pazerinity growing larger by the second, the great amount of fires and smoke could now be seen from the ship.
"Any life on the planet?"
"None that the scanners can pick up."
Wilblk sighed. "Land on the pad. Keep trying to hail somebody, anybody. And keep scanning for life. Someone has to have survived this."
"Affirmative."

***

"L'ree!" Wilblk hugged the body of his wife close and sobbed. The burnt body was barely recognizable. The diamond ring on her finger, which he had picked up for her on his one and only trip to Earth, left no doubt that his true love was lost to him forever.
"I'll find out who did this! Revenge will be ours."
He gently laid L'ree down.
"Ship, are you sure L'ree's the only one here?"
"Sensors only read her." Ship's artificial voice filtered up from the small communications device on Wilblk's collar.
"Keep scanning. I'll widen the search area. He's got to be around here somewhere."
Wilblk moved out of the house and began working his way around the house.

***

"There's a ship entering sensor range."
"Hail them." Wilblk took another look around. After hours of searching, he turned up a lot of his neighbor's bodies, but no sign of Weeblk. He headed back to the ship.
"Captain Mr'tok of the Klanzing military is waiting on the comm." Ship said when Wilblk entered the ship and seated himself in front of the console.
"Put him through." Klanzing was the nearest star system.
"My condolences. Any survivors?"
"Non that I can see. Do you know what happened?"
"We received distress calls, and sensors showed a number of unknown warships leaving the system."
"Unknown? What was their heading?"
"I'm sending the coordinates and all the data that has been collected to your ship."
"Thanks. I'll find them."
"Wilblk, take my advise. Don't follow them. That cargo ship of yours won't stand a chance against any ships capable of causing this kind of damage."
"I must." Wilblk slammed his fist on the console.
"No. We've notified the other nearby systems and we're gathering up a fleet. We'll go after them." Captain Mr'tok studied Wilblk for a long few seconds. "Don't worry. We'll find out who's behind this and bring them to justice."
"Justice? They don't deserve justice. They should all die!"
"Just let us do our job. Go back on your routes and keep busy. We'll keep you notified of our findings."
"Fine. I expect consistence updates."
"You'll get them. Captain Mr'tok out."
The view screen blacked out.
It was true that his days were numbered if he went after these unknown aliens with the minimal fire power and shield that his cargo ship held.
"Ship, take us up and set course to The Junction."
"Sir?"
"You heard me. If anyone knows what happened, I'm sure to find them at The Junction."
The ship shuttered as it lifted off from the planet. "Might I suggest..."
"No, you may not. I'm going into the back. Let me know when we get there." He purposely avoided looking out the view screen as he got up to head to his quarters. The last thing he wanted was to see the destruction of his planet as they lifted off.
He was going to have his revenge and The Junction was only the first stop on his way to getting that revenge.
